About Us

Families that choose homebirth and/or waterbirth within an hour radius of our Lakeland office are attended in labor by our midwives, Marianne Power, RN, LM and Amanda Mann, LM. Those who choose or need to give birth in the hospital are referred near the end of pregnancy to the team of welcoming OB/GYN hospitalists in Labor and Delivery at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.

Amanda Mann, LM was educated at the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery. Since 2004, Amanda has been involved in birth as a sister, a doula, a birth assistant, a student midwife, and most importantly, as a mother. Amanda fervently believes that birth is an essential life process that has the potential to transform, inspire, and engage. As a lifelong citizen of the greater Lakeland area, she believes that midwifery is the intersection of her greatest passion and her community’s greatest need.

Florida Licensed Midwife

Celena Brown, LM, CPM.

Celena found her love for birth in 2015 after supporting a friend who was delivering her very first baby. During that time she was on the path to nursing school but following that experience, she felt called into birth work. She attended births as a doula in the hospital setting and out of hospital but quickly found the passion to become a midwife. She graduated from the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery in 2021. Celena believes that pregnancy and birth is a natural process and should be treated as such through individualized care, education, autonomy, and support. In her free time Celena loves getting together with friends and family and exploring new locations!

Kathy Waite

I have been employed as an office manager working with midwives for nearly 23 years. I started working in a birth center setting, where I worked with Marianne for many years. I have a loving husband of nine years, three beautiful daughters, and four wonderful grandchildren. My oldest grandson was delivered by Marianne. Two of my other grandchildren were also delivered with a midwife. I am looking forward to meeting new families, and seeing many from the past, as I continue my career at Lakeland Midwifery Care.
